Ingredients
For the French Toast Bites
6–8 thick slices of brioche or challah bread (or white bread)
3 large eggs
1 cup (240 ml) whole milk
2 tbsp granulated sugar
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1 tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp ground nutmeg (optional)
Pinch of salt
2 tbsp butter (for cooking)
Cinnamon Sugar Coating
⅓ cup granulated sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
2 tbsp melted butter
Toppings (optional but irresistible)
Maple syrup or honey
Powdered sugar
Nutella or chocolate sauce
Fresh berries
Whipped cream
Instructions
1. Prep the Bread
Cut your bread into bite-size cubes, around 1–1.5 inch each.
Letting the bread sit uncovered for 20–30 minutes (or using day-old bread) helps it absorb the custard better without becoming mushy.
2. Make the Custard

In a large bowl, whisk together:

Eggs
Milk
Sugar
Vanilla
Cinnamon
Nutmeg
Salt

Mix well until smooth.

3. Dip the Bread
Add the bread cubes into the custard mixture.
Gently toss to coat evenly without breaking them.
Let them soak for 1–2 minutes.
4. Cook
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
Melt 2 tbsp butter.
Add the soaked bread cubes in a single layer.
Cook 2–3 minutes each side until golden and crispy.

Work in batches if needed.

5. Coat in Cinnamon Sugar
Mix sugar + cinnamon in a bowl.
Brush bites with melted butter and toss them in cinnamon sugar while still hot.
